This scanner is a serial port scanner. There is a USB version of this scanner as well but this wiki is only dealing with Serial port version.

Configuration
Seral Port Barcode Scanners don't require any special programming. You don't need to program the STX Prefix (Ctrl+B) or the Carriage Return Suffix (Enter). You do however need to know what the default Baud Rate and data format is for the device.
The Default settings for the Honeywell 1400G Serial Barcode Scanner is:
Baud Rate : 115200
Data Format : 8 Data Bits, No Parity Bit, 1 Stop Bit
On the customer's workstation, open Windows Device Manager, and find the available COM Ports.
Make a note of what COM ports are available because you may need to do a little trial and error to determine which COM port the scanner is physically connected to.
Open the properties for the COM port, click on the Port Settings tab and set the Pits Per Second to 115200 bps
Set the data bits to 8, Parity to None, stop bits to 1 and Flow Control to None.
Click OK and exit device manager.
Next Open the POS Device manager on the customer's workstation.
Go to the Barcode Scanner tab and set the port to the one you noted in the Windows Device Manager.
Again set the settings for the Port to:
Baud rate : 115200 bps, Data Format : 8 data bits, no parity bit and 1 stop bit
Do a test scan and now the barcode should show up correctly in the POS Device manager.
If the port settings are wrong you may get some information in the preview window, but it will not match the barcode number you scanned.
If your barcode scans correctly in the POS Device Manager, you can open System Five, and test it there.
You can't test serial port barcode scanners in the Barcode Scanner section of the setup Wizard. Nothing will scan there. So open an invoice and scan a barcode there, or scan it into the part find screen.
For Cloud
In the System Five on Cloud environment, all the above steps are the same because COM Ports are forwarded by default. However the POS Device manager MUST be running on the customer's workstation so that the scanned information is passed through to System Five in the System Five on Cloud environment.
If the barcode information isn't getting passed through to System Five, you may need to contact Cloud Support to have them verify that ports are being forwarded. If a change is required, a new shortcut will need to be deployed and copied down to the desktop from the RD WEB.
