Troubleshooting Actian Zen/Pervasive 161 Error in Windward System Five

What Causes the Actian Zen/Pervasive 161 Error?

This error typically occurs in Windward System Five when:

  1. Your temporary Actian Zen/Pervasive license has expired.
  2. You have exceeded the number of concurrent Actian Zen/Pervasive users.

Windward System Five Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Install Your Permanent License Key

  1. Locate the Actian Zen/Pervasive Key Code included with your Windward System Five software package.
  2. Click on the Windows Start Button → Actian Zen → Other Utilities → License Administrator.
  3. Enter the license key into the License Key fields.
  4. Confirm that a Permanent License appears in the list. If only expired temporary licenses are shown, the 161 error will persist.

Step 2: Check for Concurrent User Limit

If you already have a permanent license and still encounter the error:
  1. You may have exceeded the allowed number of concurrent users.
  2. To resolve this:
    • Log off a user from Windward System Five to free up a license.
    • Or, purchase an additional license key for Actian Zen/Pervasive.
  3. Use the same steps from Step 1 to install the new license key.
  4. If you need to increase your user limit, contact your Windward Software Systems Inc. account manager.
