System Five isn't connecting with the Point Of Sale Device Manager and you keep getting the following error message.

You will also see the following on the bottom of the System Five window.

One possible cause could be an incorrect version of System Five or the POS Device manager being registered in the COM interface in Windows.

To eliminate this as a possible cause, do the following:

This must be done on each computer that is experiencing the issue.

Browse to the System Five bin folder on the workstation. This is usually C:\Windward\System5\Bin  or C:\System5\Bin.

Within the bin folder, right click on SystemFive.exe and select create shortcut.

Right click on “SystemFive.exe – Shortcut” and select properties.

]

In the target field, add a space behind SystemFive.exe and then type /REGSERVER

Then click the Apply and OK buttons.

Now we want to do the same process for the WindwardPOS.exe

Within the bin folder, right click on WindwardPOS.exe and select create shortcut.

Right click on “WindwardPOS.exe – Shortcut” and select properties.

In the target field, add a space behind WindwardPOS.exe and then type /REGSERVER

Then click the Apply and OK buttons.

Now that the two shortcuts have been created, Right click on each of the shortcuts and run as Administrator to register them.

This should resolve the issue.

If not, you will need to create a log file to further troubleshoot the issue.

To do this, you will need to modify the System Five shortcut.

In the target field, add a space behind SystemFive.exe and then type /log=c:\SystemFive\StartupLog.txt

Then click the Apply and OK buttons.
